The great news keeps rolling in around here! We now know the significance of January 25, 2016 - this will be the day we get to meet our Lily and have our "Gotcha Day"! Having read so many blogs over the last year about many other "Gotcha Days", I just can't believe ours is right around the corner!
Two weeks from today and we'll be a family of three!
We traveled to Fort Worth last week to enjoy a two day training provided by Gladney. It was truly an awesome two days and time very well spent. We learned a lot about brain development in children as well as some great tools to help our little one thrive when we get home.
Just as important as the class was the opportunity to meet some truly awesome people who are also somewhere along their journey of adoption. For many families there, they are adding to their children they already have through adoption. Some have adopted previously and are beginning their journey to add to their family. Some are just beginning the "paperwork trail", some have been waiting for years and some are matched to their little ones, just waiting for final approvals. Hearing the stories of what brought the families to this point in their lives was just amazing and we both felt very fortunate to share in that.
Since our countdown to China has officially begun, we have set up our "staging area" in our spare bedroom. The things we've been getting for our trip are all slowly making their way to that room. We figured one room for everything will make packing this next weekend easier. I have list upon list (and anybody who knows me, knows how I love me some lists!!) that we are checking and rechecking.
Fourteen more "sleeps" until we meet Lily Grace. But, who's counting??
It has been so rewarding to be a part of the preparation and just watching both of you advance for this giant step in your lives. After all the waiting it is hard to believe you are down to just 14 days! When you put it like that it really brings it into focus. Just know that those of us waiting back here are also counting the days until we get to meet her and get to see both of you as parents for the first time.
ReplyDeleteWe are so glad we got to meet you all at the training last week! So thrilled for you all! We will be anxiously watching and praying for you all as you meet your sweet girl!
