This past Saturday marked five months ago when three lives were changed forever and we couldn't all be happier about it! We've seen so much change in Lily the last 5 months it's just crazy. It's hard to remember not having her with us. She has so much love to give that's it's sad to think she spent 24 months without a family to share her love with.
Sweet, sweet girl
In keeping with the format of my other monthly updates, here we go:
Sleeping - check
Eating - check
Attachment - check
Playing - check
Communicating - check
I could stop right there as truly, everything is just falling into place!
What's this thing called break every hour at the pool????
Lily is sleeping and eating like a champ. She now let's me brush her teeth also without any fussing. Yea!!!! Sometimes she "brushes" her puppy dogs teeth while I brush hers. Whatever it takes! She's had a few late nights this month (by our choice usually) and if she had her way, she'd sleep from about 11 at night til 9:30 in the morning. But alas, her mommy doesn't like that schedule so much! So on a "normal" night, she sleeps from around 8:30pm to 8:00am.
Lily reading to herself one night. She's saying Goodnight to you (from one of our songs) and Mama Deer and Baby Deer
Pretending to sleep on the bathroom floor with a hand towel for a blanket!
Lily still has a great appetite and eats a wide variety of food - we are still working on veggies though.
Yogurt - to eat or play with??
While Lily is definitely in her comfort zone with us she is beginning to be comfortable with others as we are around them. I so want her to open up and share her personality with all our friends and family and in time, she is beginning to!
A day at the pool
Lily with her Daddy on Father's Day
This past month Lily has really gotten in to playing with all of her toys. Her favorite right now are taking care of her stuffed animals and dolls. She likes to get them all lined up and put blankets on them to go nite nite. And, you better not try to move them because you'll get scolded!
A typical day in our playroom
Some of her favorites "corralled" together on her table
Playing with my swimsuit one night, Lily was cracking herself up!
Playing with her Daddy on the couch
Lily's verbal skills have really taken off this past month. She's stringing several words together to say phrases now. Some of her favorite things to say:
Lily do it
Lily funny
I sorry
Cow tail, pig tail, horse tail, etc. (she likes tails I guess!)
Daddy work
Thank you
You're welcome
Library book
Lily wet
Let it dry (whenever she spills something on her)
You're OK (this is what we were telling Gracie while on a recent vet visit. Lily now says this to the puppy dogs when we leave. She'll also say it to herself if she's in a new or different situation.)
I love to hear her talk! I love when she learns something and then uses those words at the correct time.
Can't wait to see what the next month brings!
